How to Make a Professional Looking Name Card

Even though more people exchange contact information the digital way more often these days, name cards are still used in the professional business networking because it is considered proper. These days, people try to be more and more creative with the design of their name cards to make sure that they can stand out compared to the others.

So, in order to make sure that you’re not left out, here are what you can do as you design and print your express name card printing in Singapore.

1. Learn From Others and Find Reference

Surely you’ve received name cards from other people too. Gather them all up and take a look at each. Note what you like and what you don’t like from those name cards you’ve evaluated. Make sure that the positive aspects are present in the design of your name card and the negative ones are not. If you don’t know how to design your own name card, you can try to find inspiration from the internet. These days, you can find a lot of examples from Pinterest and such. Surely, you will find something that clicks with your taste and goals in design. This way, you can know how to make yourself stand out and differentiate your name card from other people.

2. Design it Consistent With Other Brand Material

Before you design your name card, you have to make sure that you already have a company logo, brand color scheme, as well as typography that represents your brand as well. These three aspects need to be present across all your brand materials. These are the foundation of your brand identity as they play a big part in the style and layout of your name card so that you can make a consistent and uniform appearance.

3. Remember the Basic Design Principle

The basic principle of design is the key to making a good name card that is not only attractive but also effective.

First, remember to keep all your key copy 55mm away from the trim edge of your name card. Then, you have to make sure that your name card is legible by a good choice of font style and size. Then, design in 300 dpi minimum for a high quality result. And finally, check the colors to be CMYK so that you can achieve great color reproduction.

4. Decide on a Shape and Size

The standard shape of a name card is of course rectangular. As for the size, it is usually around 3.5 x 2 inches. However, you are absolutely free to design it however you want. These days, you can be really creative with the size and shape of a name card because you can easily die-cut it into interesting shapes. However, be careful not to overdo it. Make sure that the name card is small and compact enough to be kept in people’s wallets.

5. Keep it Simple

When it comes to designing a name card, less is more. You don’t have to go overboard with your design by including extravagant design and embellishments. Keeping a simple design is better as it is more effective and pleasant to the eyes.
